Motorcycle Toll Rates
Motorcycles will represent a significant portion of the traffic on the Strait of Messina Bridge, and an extremely advantageous toll has been planned for them:
€ 1.79 per one-way trip
Beyond the direct economic advantage, the planned tariff policy for motorcycles also serves a strategic purpose: to incentivize vehicles with low environmental impact and lower space occupancy compared to cars. This approach is consistent with the sustainability objectives that accompany the construction of the Messina Bridge, as a tool for efficient and responsible mobility.

Passenger Car Tolls
Initial 2024 indications set an average range of €4 to €7 per one-way trip for passenger cars, with an even more favorable rate for same-day round trips. In detail:
-
€ 3.94 per trip (same-day round trip)
-
€ 4.49 per trip (return within three days)
-
€ 7.14 per trip (return within 90 days)
These values position the Bridge among the infrastructures with the lowest toll rates internationally.

Van and Truck Tolls
Higher tolls are anticipated for vans, trucks, and commercial vehicles, in line with the practice of major European infrastructures. Some scenario analyses project:
€45.70 per van/one-way trip
€102.20 per truck/one-way trip
GOALS
Bridge of Messina
Balancing Accessibility and Sustainability
The central challenge remains finding the right compromise between revenue for managing the infrastructure and sustainability for its users.
Excessively high tolls would discourage usage, while overly low tolls risk failing to cover the significant maintenance costs of the infrastructure.
An Opportunity for the Territory
The decision to maintain contained tolls is an investment in the daily mobility of citizens and commuters, in the local economy, and in the commitment to make the Bridge an infrastructure truly at the service of the community—a driver of social and economic growth and a stimulus for sustainable mobility.
